RHEMA

Rhema shivered deep inside with rev’rence and expectation,

The holy messenger of God had birthed her celebration,

Her baby and her loved one, her special gift from God above,

He had carefully created here, for a most wondrous job.

Rhema loved her master, and for her excellence of spirit,

He’d chosen her to tend this one, this horse of special merit.

He knew that it would not be long, that the days were very short,

Soon he would have to go to earth and with Satan he would sport.

His battle plan had been drawn before eternity began.

He’d written every detail down and given it to man.

He’d kept the letter of His Word, every prophecy fulfilled,

Every power, every force within the bounds of what he’d willed.

The host of heaven all knew their tasks, they’d trained eternally,

And his church on earth and heaven above, He was making ready.

Rhema knew this in her spirit, and excitement raced within.

The time was fast approaching her master’s second coming.

As she looked at the new baby, she knew there had never been

A more beautiful creation that her eye had ever seen.

In time this baby would mature, she could see him in her mind,

Racing through the galaxies, with joy, laughing at the wind.

His spirit shone through fiery eyes, his character revealing

A horse of war par excellence, for the Lord’s plan prevailing.

She leapt about the universe; with the stars she praised the Lord,

She worshipped and adored him as on His wings her spirit soared.

Then suddenly she reeled as she recalled the whip, the pain,

Her heart pounded like their hoof beats in the thunder and the rain.

She knew that he must be broken, she felt the nails piercing,

In the example of the master, all must learn submission.

To be called for such an honored role in all of His-story,

Would surely require sacrifice if he would share the glory.

And so it was:

When his friends were freely running through the forests and the fields,

He would watch in quiet solitude through sad and lonely tears.

So many times he couldn’t understand why he’d have to stay

Inside the master’s boundaries, being schooled all through the day.

He took the bit and bridle, learning meekness through and through,

He listened and learned until the master’s voice he knew.

Each day he grew more beautiful in body and in spirit,

As he learned to trust his master, this horse of special merit.

The heavenly host now gazed in awe, for they had never seen

Their master ride on anything to make such a perfect team.

Now every muscle, every action, right down to every thought

Was obedient in the loving hands, just as he’d been taught.

In the evenings with his mother, he would question her and say,

“Is it so with humans? Must they be broken in this way?

How do they feel the Master’s hand? Are they bridled and subdued?

Will they be ready when he comes? Do they understand his cues?”
